چکیده

In the frame of using models to promote dialogue among stakeholders, we are interested in modelling representations as a mean to share viewpoints and opinions. A first trend for modelling representations uses sociocognitive theories as frameworks for modelling. This article proposes a different approach combining Knowledge Engineering elicitation techniques and Agent Based Modelling. The use of elicitation techniques provides a methodological framework to capture representations directly from stakeholders’ discourse. Agent Based Modelling serves as a modelling structure which enables managing representations’ heterogeneity and conflicting opinions. The proposed methodology is detailed and applied to farmers’ representations of runoff and erosion in south of France. To achieve the construction of a running model of the interviewees’ shared representation, it was necessary to implement theoretical data supplementing the elicited information. We argue that companion modelling approach can help sharing and discussing those non-elicited information with stakeholders.

Neural Network Modelling of Optimal Robot Movement Using Branch and Bound Tree

In this paper a discrete competitive neural network is introduced to calculate the optimal robot arm movements for processing a considered commitment of tasks, using the branch and bound methodology. A special method based on the branch and bound methodology, modified with a travelling path for adapting in the neural network, is introduced. The main neural network of the system consists of diff...

An iterative construction of multi-agent models to represent water supply and demand dynamics at the catchment level

Companion Modelling (ComMod) is an iterative approach of modelling in interaction with local stakeholders. KatAWARE is a multi-agent model constructed through a ComMod process with the Water User Association of the Kat River Valley, Eastern Cape, South Africa. By describing the construction of the KatAWARE model, the aim of this paper is to propose a detailed methodology to formalize and to sys...

Modelling and application: A research domain in mathematics education

Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is introducing modelling and application as a research domain in mathematics education through reviewing related literature. The first purpose of this review is to give a more clear meaning of modelling and application, and base on that, makes the distinction between modelling in mathematics education & modelling in other scientific domains. There are so...

Emergency department resource optimisation for improved performance: a review

Emergency departments (EDs) have been becoming increasingly congested due to the combined impacts of growing demand, access block and increased clinical capability of the EDs. This congestion has known to have adverse impacts on the performance of the healthcare services. Attempts to overcome with this challenge have focussed largely on the demand management and the application of system wide p...
